Frequently asked questions

What sources do you support?

Today we support Twitter/X and YouTube transcripts; Telegram, blogs, news articles, and generic URLs are on our roadmap. Official sources for each cryptocurrency are monitored automatically, and custom sources can be added based on your subscription tier.

Do I need to connect my exchange?

No. Your portfolio is managed manually within MoonWire. You simply add the coins you want to track, and we filter all content based on those selections. We never require exchange API keys or access to your trading accounts.

Does this replace my trading tools?

No — MoonWire focuses on intelligence and information filtering; it is not a charting or trade-execution platform. MoonWire does not provide financial advice: we summarise and analyse publicly available commentary, and where we show technical readouts or our own probability estimates they are descriptive, general information only — never a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any asset. Think of us as your research assistant that keeps you informed, while you use your preferred trading platform for actual trades.

Is my data secure?

We never require exchange API keys and never touch your funds — your portfolio is entered manually and stays that way. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and we never sell your data. Two things worth knowing: live prices are fetched by your own browser directly from a public market-data provider, and we use cookieless analytics that identify you only by an anonymous account ID and your subscription tier. Sources you add join MoonWire’s shared catalog where other members may discover them — your identity is never attached to them.

What about content rights?

We analyse only publicly available content and publish summaries and analysis rather than republishing full articles or videos — the same basis on which commentary and research operate. We are not able to give you legal advice about your own use.

How do you cut through the noise in crypto?

MoonWire narrows the feed on two axes rather than showing you more of it. First, scope: you pick the coins and the sources you care about, and analysis is filtered to those selections instead of a general firehose. Second, importance: every item we analyse is scored for how significant it is, so routine chatter and market-moving items are separated rather than arriving in the same undifferentiated stream. Each analysis is dated and links back to the post it came from, so you can check the original rather than taking a summary on trust.

How do I find out who actually covers a specific coin?

MoonWire tracks which sources are posting about which assets, so for a given coin you can see who has been covering it and how recently — rather than guessing from follower counts. Coverage depth varies a lot by asset: the major coins are discussed by dozens of the sources we track, while a mid-cap may be followed closely by only two or three. We show what the coverage actually looks like, including when it is thin, because a thin answer is more useful than a padded one.

How is this different from just following crypto Twitter?

Following accounts gives you their posts in timeline order, mixed together and weighted by whatever the platform is optimising for. MoonWire reads the same public posts and YouTube transcripts and turns each one into a structured record — what it is about, which assets it touches, how important it looks, and what the source actually claimed — so you can filter and compare across sources instead of scrolling. You still choose the sources; we do the reading and the sorting.
