Today's read
The week-ahead regime call stays choppy (issued 16 October, runs to 23 October), so no new regime row is written today. Coverage in this window was thin: 12 analyzed items from three analyst sources (58 in the prior two days). That coverage leaned bullish on Bitcoin and on the crypto market overall, and bearish on Solana. The engine reads Bitcoin as sideways on every horizon. Most altcoins lean lower, but only on momentum, so they do not pass the conviction gate.
New calls this run (2)
| Call | Horizon | Engine probability | Base rate for a touch of this size | Lane |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Solana (SOL): leans to reach −0.93% within the next day | 1d | ~72% | ~65% | in the accuracy record |
| XRP: leans to reach −1.51% within the next 3 days | 3d | ~81% | ~67% | experimental, excluded from the accuracy record |
Both are touch calls. A call counts as reached if price trades at the stated level at any point within the horizon; where it closes does not count. The complement is "does not reach the level", which is not the same as a move in the other direction. Most of each probability is the base rate. The gap above it is model output and has not been validated as skill.
Not issued, and the rule that blocked each
- ETH: per-coin limit of 2 reached (standing 7-day and 3-day calls).
- XRP 1-day: 48-hour cadence (an XRP 1-day call was issued on 19 October). XRP's next eligible horizon was the 3-day, which was issued instead.
- SOL, XRP and ETH 7-day: a standing call already exists and today's probability is within 0.10 of it, so it is not a material change.
- BTC, ZEC, NEAR: no conviction (the engine reads them sideways). The standing ZEC and BTC 7-day calls run on to their own expiry.
- HBAR, CVX, DOGE, ADA, AVAX, ENA, SUI and other altcoins: no conviction (momentum only, with no qualifying corpus leg).
- Idiosyncratic slots: none filled, because no non-major read passed the gate.
- Structural board: Bitcoin-record, altseason and majors-drawdown each already have 2 standing reads. The Solana-versus-Bitcoin re-score is within 0.10 of the standing read, so not material. Ethereum-versus-Bitcoin already has 2 standing reads. Event outcomes are at their limit of 3.
Standing book
Every standing asset call leans lower: BTC, ETH, SOL, ZEC and XRP at 7 days, plus ETH and ZEC at 3 days. These calls move together, so the book holds fewer independent reads than its row count.
Receipts (resolved since the last run)
| Call | Issued | Matured | Resolved | Outcome |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Solana: leans to reach −1.62% within 3 days (experimental) | 17 Oct 17:38Z | 20 Oct 17:38Z | 20 Oct 21:16Z | Hit: level reached; price then closed +3.24% at expiry |
| XRP: leans to reach −0.87% within the next day | 19 Oct 17:56Z | 20 Oct 17:56Z | 20 Oct 21:16Z | Hit: level reached; price then closed +2.12% at expiry |
Two resolved, two hits, no misses this run. Both coins traded through the downside level and then reversed higher. Under touch grading that counts as reached. It is not evidence that either coin fell over its window.
Accuracy (trailing 30 days to 20 October)
- Headline, 7-day claim lane: Brier Skill Score against the base rate is −0.003 (n=10). Our probabilities have not yet beaten simply quoting the historical base rate. Reliability is 0.0375 (where over-confidence shows up) and resolution is 0.045 (how well the probabilities separate outcomes). Verdict: insufficient data, below the 25-call floor.
- 1-day claim lane: Brier Skill Score is −0.155 (n=25), further behind the base rate.
- Directional-accuracy note, not a skill measure: the 7-day hit rate minus the average base rate is −1.1 points.
