The bearish reads on Bitcoin cited here came from derivatives positioning and intraday charts, while most of the constructive ones argued over far longer horizons: Glassnode reported Hyperliquid whales' BTC short exposure at its largest since October 2025 [1], as Michael Saylor posted a video framed as helping bears think long term [2].
Positioning leaned short
Glassnode wrote that Hyperliquid whales' net positioning "turned short 2 weeks ago after 7 months of being long", and that short exposure is now the largest since October 2025 [1]. It added: "The last time they were this short, price moved down considerably." [1]
Ansem read the same direction off a much smaller timeframe, writing "zec weakness ltf showing next direction for majors imo" and posting five-minute charts of Bitcoin, Zcash, Ether and Solana [3]. When a reply pointed out that Zcash's one-hour chart showed "higher highs and higher lows for the past 2 days", Ansem answered "intraday weakness" [3]. Asked about Pump, Ansem called it a "tough spot", arguing that slower on-chain activity would hit its revenues [3].
Bitcoin's official account posted prices of $75,799.70 and $75,792.28 during the window [4][5], and Whale Alert headlined heavy XRP long liquidations with price near $1.16 and support at $1.15 in focus [6].
The bull cases looked further out
Lark Davis pushed back on a relayed "sell everything" read of a 70% one-day VIX jump, answering "Well, probably not." [7] The video cited 22 earlier one-day VIX spikes of 30% or more over the last decade, with the S&P 500 higher a month later in 20 of them at an average 2.47% return, while also noting that after the first big COVID spike the index fell another 31% before it bottomed [7].
Coin Bureau framed AI insiders' share sales as capital that could rotate into crypto: "Paper fortunes are being turned into cash and that cash is looking for somewhere new to go," with tender offers at private labs such as OpenAI as the route from paper to cash [8].
Saylor's other post traced digital credit across four centuries, "From the Dutch East India Company to Bitcoin" [9]. Ansem, answering a post that called crypto uninteresting, wrote that stablecoins, perps and tokenization are "0-1 step change innovations for finance", conceding that "99.9% of coins failed" while likening the period to the failed internet startups of the early 2000s [10].
The account that read intraday weakness also mapped a much longer arc. In a separate post, Ansem's daily Zcash chart, printing 1,262.32 USDT, labelled a zone far below as "generational zcash entry" and marked a level where "people panic sell beneath here" [11].
The nearest-term constructive read cited here came from CredibleCrypto, who saw a confirmed daily bullish divergence on Curve's CRV with its demand zone holding, and attached a condition: "Now we just need $BTC not to ruin it." [12]
Where the voices split
The split cited here was less about direction than about horizon. Glassnode's positioning data and Ansem's intraday read pointed the same way [1][3]. The pushback came from a reply on Ansem's own thread, from Lark Davis reading the volatility spike against its history, and from Saylor's long-term framing [3][7][2]. Ansem, for their part, argued the long-run case for crypto's infrastructure in the same window as the short-term bearish read on the majors [10][3].
XRP and the stablecoin question
Lark Davis argued that RLUSD can succeed without forcing institutions to hold meaningful XRP, saying "They could probably have 50 bucks with XRP and do thousands of transactions" and citing Brad Garlinghouse's early-November remark that RLUSD, Ripple's own stablecoin, competes with other stablecoins, not with XRP [13].
Venues and flows
OKX introduced OKX Shield, offering potential reimbursement of up to $100,000 for regular users and up to $500,000 for eligible VIPs if an account is hacked or taken over, subject to the applicable terms and review [14]. Whale Alert reported that Binance France will close all customer accounts by 31 December 2026 after failing to obtain a MiCA licence [15]. Ansem wrote that Pump "has added ~11 chains past two weeks" and is rewarding callouts on higher market cap coins, perps and cross-chain tokens, while adding "this isnt a bullpost of the token" [16].
Whale Alert flagged 1,985 BTC (150,780,805 USD) and 309,864,597 USDC moving between unknown wallets, and 1,000 BTC moving from Crypto.com to an unknown wallet; none of these posts gave a purpose [17][18][19].
